Tian Ma, Gastrodia (Gastrodia elata) is a saprophytic perennial leafless herb in the family Orchidaceae. It is a very rare plant that loves moist soil and light. The plant has 8-12 centimeter long elliptical underground rhizomes with a diameter of 3-5 centimeters (up to 7 cm).
The stalk is bare, erect, 0.3-1 m high (sometimes up to 2 m), orange-yellow to brown, cylindrical in shape. The flowers are pale olive or orange-red, 5-30 cm in size (found up to 50 cm). Gastrodia blooms in July. It grows in Nepal, Bhutan, India, Japan (Kyushu, Hokkaido, and Honshu), North Korea, The Russian Far East, Taiwan, and China at heights of 400 to 3200 m on the outskirts of forests.

Suggested Adult Use: Shake well before use. 20-30 drops, three times a day or as directed by your practitioner. The best way to use liquid herbal glycerites is to put the suggested amount in a glass of water, tea, or juice and drink the entire contents. Glycerites can also be administered directly into the mouth without the assistance of water however some glycerites are unpalatable which is why most people prefer to dilute them into a beverage.
